Bulk Tank Leg Optimization

Project Description

Goal: Optimize the connection between the legs and a bulk tank on board of a sea going vessel.

Result: The analyses were done by means of Femap and validated in our MathCad report. All given ship accelerations due to roll and pitch were applied. All legs were provided with pins in the connection to the ship. In our FE model these connections were modeled using contact elements. Calculations were done with both pressurized and non-pressurized tanks.
